Before & After 10: Excitement

Before Image
After Image

I chose the before image as it had a list of 4 bullet points in the middle of the page.  I felt there could be a more exciting way to convert the bullet points, especially as the content of the graphic is meant to be humorous and not informative.  Additionally, the background color was rather boring and did not add to the tone of the piece.  I do think the font used for the title added some fun, as they utilized the text as an image.  However, they did not continue with this idea throughout the rest of the piece.

The first thing I decided to do in the after piece was deal with the bullet points.  I decided to combine both humorous photographs cats (more than just the one photo from the original image) with text wrapped (arching) above each image.  This way the 4 bullet points became almost similar to thought bubbles, where each cat was expressing its own evil behaviors.  Additionally, I imported a textured red background that emphasizes the “evil” nature of the cats.  Because of this, I decided against using font as an image like the original, as between the photographs and textured background I felt that added element would cause the image to become too busy.  Ultimately, I think in my after image I was able to attract more attention, and create a more distinctive, impactful graphic for the content.
